Work Posture of Lifting-Carrying Sacks and Musculoskeletal Disorders of Farmer in Peliatan Village

The aims of research determine the position and work posture of lifting and carrying grain sack which unnatural way causing musculoskeletal disorders of worker. The method used in this research is survey walk-through. Observations are made by directly observing the process of lifting and carrying the grain sacks using 3 (three) aspects of an ergonomic study. The respondents in this study amounted to 10 workers lifting and transporting grain sacks in Peliatan Village. Position and work posture were recorded using the REBA method and musculoskeletal disorders were recorded using a Nordic Body Map questionnaire. Based on the results of observations and interviews, the main problem that needs to be fixed is the task aspect. From the task aspect, it can be seen that the work position and work posture by workers have a high risk of causing musculoskeletal disorders. Musculoskeletal disorders, which are very serious, are mostly felt in the elbows, upper arms and shoulders. One solution that can be done is work condition improvement using the Total Ergonomic Approach which is a combination of the SHIP (Holistic, Interdisciplinary, and Participatory) and AP (Appropriate Technology).
